I would like to wish a warm welcome to the children and  parents in Year 3.

Welcome to the beginning of the Year.

We have been really busy in Year 3 already this half term.

On Thursday the whole school went to church to celebrate the start of the new year. I just have to say how delighted I was with every single child's behaviour - lots of house points were given out when we returned to school. Fantastic singing also.

In R.E. we are thinking about the school community, the church community and the wider community arouynd our school. We are also working in pairs to create class worships.

We have been going on map walks regularly on Thursday afternoons around half two, following the children's chosen route around the area each week. This is directly following the work we are doing in Geography called 'There's no place like home' Thank you to the parents who have come along to help. If there are any more parents who would like to join us, please don't hesitate to chat with me.

We have been having great fun learning all about the skelton of humans and other creatures. In groups, the class drew what they thought the skeleton looked like and what it protected. They did an excellent job and now they are all on the walls in the classroom.

We have recently had a Ju Jit Su taster session and lots of children really enjoyed this and have since joined the after school club. This club takes place on Thursday evenings.

There has been an excellent response to bringing in homework and reading books each week, thank you.

In order to insprie the class with their writing, we have been out into the school grounds visiting the hens this week. Once we had gathered lots of photos and information, we came back into the class and created When, Because and Although sentences, putting these into their recounts. Everyone wrote super recounts about their hen visit.

It was lovely to see so many parents at the 'meet the teacher' meeting on Thursday. For those who were unable to attend, I've put together some information about what happens in Year 3. This will come home on Monday.

Please return all the medical, trip, ict, images and home school agreement  information as soon as you can. Thank you.
