Forest School news!

We are so blessed to have our wonderful Forest area, Squirrel Wood and all our children get to experience Forest School through our much loved Enrichment Programme. Katy Seed, our Family Learning Mentor, has developed this fabulous area over many, many years giving many hours of her own time, beg, borrowing and making many of the things required. The children and staff love spending time together in the woods and just this week Katy led the staff in a wellbeing staff meeting round the fire-amazing! To be able to fully embrace the Forest School approach you have to have at least one person on the staff who is Forest School trained. This is a lengthy process, is not for the faint hearted and involves a thesis style portfolio that is rigorously assessed. Just a few weeks ago Katy passed all her assessments and is a fully fledged Forest School practitioner. We are super proud of her and so glad we can now embrace all areas of the Forest School approach. We have to mention Willow too, who is our much loved school dog and keeps a watchful eye on all that goes on in the woods. Congratulations!
